Innovator Founder
- For founders starting a new business in the UK
- Needs endorsement that the business is innovative, viable and scalable
- You must have an active, hands-on role in running it
Global Talent
- For people recognised, or with potential to be recognised, as leaders in certain fields
- Usually needs endorsement based on your track record, not a business plan
- Can suit experienced founders with a strong public record in their field
Expansion Worker (Global Business Mobility)
- For senior staff of an established overseas business setting up a UK presence
- The overseas business must already be trading
- Can suit founders who already run a company outside the UK

Eligibility rules for each route change and depend on your circumstances. Check gov.uk and speak to a regulated immigration adviser before choosing.
- Do I already run a trading business outside the UK?
- Do I have a strong, recognised record in my field?
- Am I starting something new that I will run full-time here?
Common questions
- Is Global Talent easier than Innovator Founder?
- It depends on your profile. Global Talent is based on your track record; Innovator Founder is based on your business. Neither is easy for someone who does not fit it.
- I already run a company abroad. Which route fits?
- The Expansion Worker route may be worth exploring if your business is established and trading. Confirm with a regulated immigration adviser.
- Does Founder Compass give immigration advice?
- No. Founder Compass helps with the business case. For eligibility and route choice, speak to a regulated immigration adviser.
